Research
With a foundation in basic theory and methods of quantitative and qualitative research, we have clustered graduate offerings and graduate student research in the comparative sociology of Asia and of Hawai`i. Within these settings, the department's faculty strength and course offerings focus on substantive issues in the study of crime, law, deviance, human services, aging and medical sociology, and race and ethnic relations. These areas of concentration are described in more detail in the following pages:
- The Sociology of Asia and the Pacific
- Crime, law, and deviance
- Ethnic and race relations
- Health, aging, and medical sociology
